Hwang Tae Ok is a visual artist working at the intersection of the high and the low, the violent and the comic, and the everyday and the deeply historical. She holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA in Social Practice and Public Culture from the University of California, San Diego. Her work has been exhibited and performed internationally, in a wide range of venues, including a street corner in Tijuana, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, El Museo del Barrio in New York, and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimarin Germany, among others. She currently lives in Baltimore, MD and teaches at Johns Hopkins University.
